Demons 04:01
Believe me when I say I've felt the same as you Contemplation running though my head But I know that I'll do what it takes for me to see this through No, I won't let this sadness get the best of me You know you kill me from the inside out I blame this city for my demons I'll tell myself I couldn't see them When I packed my bags and left my friends Said goodbye to that small desert town It's not easy for someone like you to love someone like me I'm always lost inside my head So forgive me for everything I've ever said and done Cause I can't seem to ever show the best in me You know you kill me from the inside out I blame this city for my demons I'll tell myself I couldn't see them When I packed my bags and left my friends Said goodbye to that small desert town So save your sympathy for someone who needs it I'll save my sadness for these songs

Trust myself, I know what's better for me Inside out, you left me but I'm finally on my feet On my own Mark my words, you think you know me from the inside out Your voice is finally fading Mark my words, trust myself But I can hear, her voice is calling for me Over the rocky mountains, across the raging sea I can hear, her voice is calling for me But I've never felt comfortable in my own skin I'm feeling so worked up, I'm running circles in my head again Just can't lose sight of what you said back then But I can hear, her voice is calling for me Over the rocky mountains, across the raging sea I can hear, her voice is calling for me And you'd think it'd be ours, but it's really deceit So here's to every time I found you cut up on the bathroom floor And every time I had to chase you through the basement door This song goes out to every problem that we chose to ignore Now I'm spitting blood through this hole in my front tooth It's not that I hate you, it's just that I still do I'm spitting blood through this hole in my front tooth But I can hear, her voice is calling for me Over the rocky mountains, across the raging sea I can hear, her voice is calling for me

Better Man 03:46
Take me back to the day where we could still be friends Behind a fake set of eyes you decided it should end I took a minute to say what I never should have said And wrote this song that I'll play while you call names instead If only I saw the better man in you If only I saw You sold me out as something that I could never be You never saw in me the person that I needed you to see And the card that you played, well I never could have guessed Now there's nothing you could say to be a better man at best If only I saw the better man in you If only I saw Remember when you used to kill me? Remember when we fell apart? But in the end you'll always end up right back where you start If only I saw the better man in you If only I saw

One of these days I'm gonna sit down and write all these songs Cause I know that it's been too long One of these days I'm gonna pack my bags, get out of this place And I'll never have to see her face again But if you wanna sing to me, you know I'm always listening God only knows I love the sound (of your voice) Can you show me all the things I know that I've been missing? Just let me know you'll be around

Losing Sleep 03:45
Don't get me wrong, I loved you but I had to leave you Truth be told, I think I miss it more than you do But in the end I know it's for the better You brought me down, right to my knees You had me screaming, begging "Darling please!" It's only love, there's so much left to live for But it's all the same to me I'd bottle up my love And I'd throw it to the sea Just to get some sleep Now I know, I know what you've been thinking That this heavy heart, it comes with all the drinking But I know that it only makes me colder Cause I've been down, yeah I've been beat And I can feel it, my heart is growing weak Now I know that I'm only getting older But it's all the same to me I'd bottle up my love And I'd throw it to the sea Would it be enough? Oh, no Cause I've been down, yeah I've been beat And I can feel it, my heart is growing weak Now I know that I'm only getting older But it's all the same to me I'd bottle up my love And I'd throw it to the sea Would it be enough?

Sans Nom 04:13
Hey Dad, it's good to see you, I know it's been a while Not quite the man I know you thought I'd be But it's nice to see you smile Yeah, it's nice to see you smile But it's alright, I don't need the money, my guitar right by my side And it's alright Yeah, it's alright Oh Brother, I might just miss you, I know it's been too long And I know I owe you more than I could ever give For now I'm singin' you this song Yeah, I'm singin' you this song But it's alright, I don't need the money, my guitar right by my side And it's alright Yeah, it's alright Father, I know that this life isn't perfect But I'm not wasting my time Cause I've weighed out the odds and it just isn't worth it To measure my success in dollar signs But it's alright, I don't need the money, just the melody inside And it's alright Yeah, it's alright

about

Distractions is a vessel for striking, existential unburdening in which Michael funnels first-person accounts of grief, depression, yearning, rejection, and self-worth into a worldview that seems both chaotic and consoling. In his unbridled but steady voice, Michael searches for meaning in a world so full of pain it can drive a person mad.
